Ms. Hill faced a hefty jail sentence and for what? Some have attributed the soul songstress' distressing legal matters to a matter of competency and utter disrespect for the role of citizenship. However, the matter is all in the family. Ms. Hill in a studious lament expressed her dillema faced with being scrutinzed in the public eye and the necessity to care for and protect her family from the ongoing harm caused. Though Ms. Hill is quite pronouned in rhethoric, describing her conditions in the judicial and social pressures, she nevertheless makes her point clear: failing to pay taxes was not a matter of neglect but rather the opposite; making necessary decisions in order to fufill her responsibilities of citizenship as foremost a mother, Lauryn proves to be a productive mother despite a futile situation.

 

Let's support Lauryn as she selflessly has supported the American and Global public for years, blessing us with music, wisdom and unrelenting love.

What is all the fuss over Blue Ivy?  Is she the property of the American public, in ways that her body is up for criticism as some type of spectacle? Blue Ivy is a baby, one like any other child, new to the world, and growing while dependent on the loving care, her parents so graciously provide.  The fuss, clearly, is not about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s talent, because if you want to enjoy this talent; it is widely available on cd, dvd, on upcoming concert listings, and/or, simply hit up YouTube for performance memorabilia.   Yet, we continue to disrespect and disregard the fragility and preciousness of human life, with the craze and half-hearted speculations of Blue’s existence.  Is the media frenzy over Blue taken to another level of perversion because she is the product of Black love, success and desire?  If Blue Ivy was not Black, would her physical features matter that much to the paparazzi, and moreover, to the American public? If Blue Ivy was not born into the success of Black entrepreneurial entertainers, would we find it necessary to publically harass and scrutinize her ‘hypothetical’ life, which has yet to blossom? Recently, many celebrities have commented on Blue Ivy and her growing resemblance to her father, Sean ‘Jay -Z’ Knowles-Carter.  In many ways, shade has been thrown to the child’s alleged appearance, as if to suggest that there is a problem with Blue Ivy, looking like Jay-Z.

                                                      If Blue Ivy is the spitting image of her dad, what does that mean and why is it so important to the media and to the public? To answer this question with a real handle on the situation, we must consider what Jay-Z looks like, and also, what Jay-Z represents.  Jay-Z is tall, Black, and male. Many with these characteristics are too often shot and killed. During beef with another artist, Jay-Z was criticized, cheap shot by Nas, with blows directed at his full lips, to the effect of him being called ugly.  In my opinion, and many notable others Beyoncé, Jay-Z is a good looking man! Big lips are attractive, just ask anyone who’s loved up collagen filled lips Kanye West, and yes, it is a feature naturally associated with Black bodies. Yes, larger and ominous eyes are an attractive feature, associated with intensity, beauty and bodies of all colors. Yes, a full nose that support and bring distinguishing character to the symmetry of one’s face is necessary! It is attractive and it too is associated with Black bodies. So what is my point?   Blue Ivy looks like her dad and so what! Unless, the paparazzi and the American Public have a problem with features associated with Black bodies, Blue Ivy’s appearance shouldn’t be treated as a site of suspicion, shady implications, blatant disregard and disrespect. SMH.

The emerging mania surrounding Blue Ivy Carter, is a tragically  popular occurrence, one I believe is another indication that America has a problem with Blackness.  The swarm of paparazzi, and people who want to get a look at Blue Ivy Carter, for what purpose: to confirm that she indeed is a real baby sell pic for $; to compare her face to that of her stunning parents, Beyoncé Knowles Carter and Jay Z aka Sean Knowles Carter sell pic for $; and lastly, but above all, to introduce her to the ugly that is largely America, overwhelmed by gross and devastating acts of racism and undertones of hate for Black bodies… exploitation$$ Dispossession$ genocide$$ .Stop hating on Baby Blue, get over your selves, as it is not a good look, and clearly your obsessed with looks!
